Members dDigitalPimp
who here has played them? any bits of advice? a local promoter got his hands on our short demo cd and called our lead singer about playing a gig later this month at a strip club. we play all classic, modern and hard rock covers and we also do an ozzy set with about 10 songs of just sabbath and ozzy stuff. the promoter really liked what he heard and is doing some event at the end of the month at a strip club and wants us to play. he will take ads out in the local weekender and some air time on the classic rock station for commercials. my biggest concern is we dont play a lot of "wah pedal" type music. no real funk either. im not sure how the ladies will be able to dance to our stuff. we are not going to be able to learn a bunch of songs for the event but we would like to play it and if the promoter is offering i think we should play. so what are your thoughts? play it or no? they charge $15 a head and we would get 40% of the door if money is a factor. we would likely make the same or more cash than we normally get for a show. Members Sugarskull
who here has played them? any bits of advice?. Don't whack your headstock on the pole. Trust me, it happens. I've never played when the strippers were still there. Can't offer advice there. I've played Burlesque shows, but that's a whole different ball game. Members Thrustin
I wouldn't worry about the ladies being able to dance to the music. There really isn't much "dancing" going on. Most strip clubs play rock and rap anyway. "Girls, girls, girls" is a staple. I even heard Type-O negative once.
Members georgestrings
Sounds like fun to me - I'd do it... BTW, strippers don't just dance to "wah music" - your normal playlist will *probably* be just fine... - georgestrings

These days it's hard rock, rap and other music that has a decent beat for them to gyrate too. I've done shows at Strip Clubs, but no dancers were there that night, the club loaned itself out to the local music fest when it needed more venues for the weekend. Members Phantasm
I've been there... great story for another time... Rock covers will be fine. As long as the girls can find the beat to dance it's all good.
Members dDigitalPimp
great story for another time... tell it please. from what ive been told we will be playing on a stage opposite the "main stage" with the pole, etc.. the promoter said the girls will be on the main stage for the most part but if they decide to dance on the other stage (where we will be playing) that it would be cool. two of us have wives and two of us have girlfriends but it seems that they all understand we are doing this to advance the band, which is cool. my gf has no problems but she wont be attending this show. im ok with that, when ive been in strip clubs and good looking girls are there the strippers are all over them instead of the guys, my gf would be uncomfortable in that situation. Members Jesse Neil
I can't help but be mean to strippers and waitresses who think they're strippers. I gave all my money to a bartender girl Tuesday night because she was speaking in sign to one of the deaf patrons.

Members willsellout
Does your wife read this forum? Honestly I think its the fact that I worked in a tattoo shop in Southern California. So many strippers would come in and blow (or other things) the artists for free tattoos or piercings or simply to because they just thought that was normal:idk:I haven't been in a strip club in many many years, which is quite the feat considering thats what sailors do when they pull into port;)

I don't think I could play one of those. It really depends on the club and the girl, to be honest. Some of them are money grubbers and some of them are pill heads, but there are some of them that are decent girls trying to make a buck using what they've got. It's like the forum, you have to listen a little bit and then set the annoying ones to IGNORE. Regarding pictures, it is NEVER okay to take pictures in a gentleman's club. Trying is a fast way to get kicked out!

But at the end of the night, you've got to try, "Girls, can we all get together for a group shot to commemorate this fun evening?"
