Members MILFboi
What's behind the unusual shape of the Bongo? Is this just an original design that has a nice ergonomic shape, or is there some actual science to the shape -- as in does the shape lend well to slap bass style or clear ringing harmonics over the conventional Fender-ish shape of the StingRay and Sterling? Members jfh2112
This doesn't really answer your question, but I came across this looking for a picture of the Bongo (couldn't remember what it looked like): http://www.bovinehost.com/bongo/bongoinfo.html
Members Perfessor
I figure it looks like that just so there are some goofy 2000's shapes like there were goofy 1960's shaped basses. Something to look back on and laugh at. Not my cuppa tea.
Members Jealousblues
I think the reason is to make me think "oh that looks kind of cool..."but not buy one because of its looks as well ;-) to be honest they are supposed to be very good basses though

Yes, that website answered my questions. I suspected that the idea behind the Bongo design was to be futuristic. Had no idea BMW did the original design work... heh. If memory serves, the person that designed the Gibson Thunderbird and Firebird back in the '60s was a former designer for Pontiac.
