Moderators Lee Knight Posted May 4, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2013 10's, and lots of them, sound awesome. My favorite setup... ever... was a couple of early Ampeg SVT 8-10 cabs with complimenting heads. I recall a period in the late 80's when Sting used a PA setup for his bass. That didn't last long. He's a smart guy.As a recording engineer, I'm always looking at how to limit the bandwidth of the bass. It speaks the right way when you pick and choose carefully where you're going to roll off. And not only in the highs... but the lows as well. Full bandwidth is not the answer to great bass tone. The 10's.
