Members purplez
I measured from the saddle bottom to the nut and it came out as 31 inches. So what scale size strings do I need? does it only go to the nut or do I have to take into account the extra bit of string needed to go to the tuners... its all very confusing??? Do I need short scale strings, I was thinking of trying Flatwound strings but I don't know the length to get?
Members DeepEnd
The "scale" is from nut to saddle(s). If your bass is string through or has a tailpiece, you'll need standard strings. It sounds like you can probably use short scale though. As for flatwounds, I have a set of Ernie Ball flats on my bass that I picked up on clearance at the local Guitar Center. Personally, I love the feel of them.
