Slightly OT: Me and our choir sang the National Anthym for 11,000...Pics!

We did a fairly complex 4-part harmony with echoing of lyrics arranged by our music director (conducting). That is why a couple of folks had sheet music. We had to, in one rehearsal, learn all of our parts and do it acapalla with the delay of the stadium PA and no reflected sound to be able to hear ourselves as a unit. Pretty challenging. In spite of it, it came out fantastic! Usually, it is done by a soloist and the crowd sings along. This time, however, except for our singing, you could have heard a pin drop!! Then (cliche') the crowd went wild! Lots of extremely positive feedback from folks in the stands as we made our way back to our seats. Very cool stuff!

Here are some pics. I left 8 up to see and 8 more as links for those with dialup. It is our stadium (Frontier Field for the Rochester Red Wings who is the Minnesota Twins farm club), our choir performing, the crowd, and fireworks after the game. Enjoy! Boggs

As I said, it was a fairly complex 4-part harmony and 2 of the people were not able to make the one and only rehearsal we had for it the night before. It is not easy to unlearn the 50 years of singing it one way and learning an entirely different part from the melody and do it acapella in front of 11,000+ people...

Unfortunately (or fortunately...), I am 2nd generation American and my father did little to pass on the culture or language. I have cousins in Philadelphia who still speak it fluently. Sure wish I had that up here in Rochester.

I'm doing well, thank you!

For anyone interested, the "ian" at the end of the last name signifies the Surname. In my case, it would be "son of Bogosh" or "son of Boghos" for the more pure Armenian form...

...and now, back to our regularly scheduled programming! :D
