Members Roy Brooks
I don't think I ever learned a tune or a solo exactly note for note. When I started playing in bands I really didn't want to play my solos just like the record because I was already hip to live records. And very rarely did I hear a solo on a live record played exactly the same way it was played on the studio recording. And I am pretty sure that alot of solos on original recordings were made up on the spot. Sometimes if I have heard a tune enough times I will sometimes play parts of the original recorded solo or various parts of the tunes just like the record. Though that could change if I play the tune enough times. One of the bands I play regular gigs with has never practiced. In fact when I started playing with them all I did was show up. I doubt I heard more than four or five of their tunes before I started playing with them. I just play what I think fits. And it is different every time. Members ggm1960
reminds me of Vince Guaraldi and the "Peanuts" theme. That's a great song to do between breaks and the only piano song I know that is actually in Ab.
