If I were you, I'd get to know promoters and start a relationship with them. We have opened for The Black Dahlia Murder and are opening for Nevermore next year and all we have to do is sell tickets. Don't sell enough tickets and they'll find someone who will. Unless they consider that your pay, in which case there won't be many bands wanting to compete anyway.
