Your best sing along song list

For that age range, these are songs that if you can pull off solo and get the energy up, it's like having a band behind you. Most people don't know verses to anything, but the chorus is where it is at. If you can get a moment where they scream and throw back their heads singing, you did it right.

Elton John - Bennie And The Jets/Tiny Dancer

Journey - Don't Stop Believin'

Joan Jett/The Arrows - I Love Rock And Roll

Hall And Oats - Maneater/Private Eyes

The Outfield - Your Love (Josie's Song)

Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (RiCK ROLLED!)

Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me

Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight

U2 - Pride (In The Name Of Love)

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away

The Cure - Just Like Heaven

Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Bryan Adams - Summer Of 69'/Run To You

Maroon 5 - This Love

Oasis - Wonderwall

Matchbox 20 - Smooth

Better Than Ezra - Good

Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me

Everclear - Santa Monica

Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire/Use Somebody

The Black Crows - Hard To Handle

Aerosmith - What It Takes/Livin On The Edge

Tom Petty - Free Fallin'

Rod Stewart - Maggie May

Offspring - Self Esteem/Pretty Fly For A White Guy

James - Laid

Actually, "Smooth" was Santana featuring Rob Thomas...

And let me add:

"Sweet Caroline" - Neil Diamond

"American Pie" (groan) - Don McLean

"You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" - Righteous Brothers

"Breakdown" - Tom Petty

"Brown Eyed Girl" - Van Morrison

"Piano Man" - Billy Joel

"867-5309/Jenny" - Tommy Tutone

"Wanted Dead or Alive" - Bon Jovi

"Sweet Home Alabama" - Lynyrd Skynyrd

"Another Brick in the Wall Part II" - Pink Floyd

"Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd

"California Dreaming" - Mamas & Papas

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" - The Tokens

"The Gambler" - Kenny Rogers

"The Joker" - Steve Miller Band

"Country Roads" - John Denver

"Margaritaville" and "Volcano" - Jimmy Buffett

"Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" - Harry Belafonte

"City of New Orleans" - Arlo Guthrie

"Black Water" - Doobie Brothers

"Drift Away" - Dobie Gray

"Friends in Low Places" - Garth Brooks

I think I'll stop there. And yes, I perform every one of these songs -- certainly not every night, and usually by reque$t only (if you catch the hint).

:rawk:

ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

That's why I don't see cover bands. Set's like that.

Just my opinion, not fact. But come on.

I don't either and I loathe sing-alongs. But this isn't for you and me. So what's the issue?

Yea, singing along to the Dropkick Murphys is so ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..

Look, just trying to please a small town audience. If it was up to me I play alot of {censored} no one heard of.. Then again, I probably wouldn't be playing for to long.

So what national touring band are you guys in?

I don't see where you have anything to apologize for. Personally, I'm guided by one thing only - what I want to do. If I want to do something, I do it. Can't spend a whole lot of time worrying about what some asshat on the Internet thinks of it.

"Set's" ??? Why the apostrophe? Does it indicate possession, as in something the set has? Or is it indicative of a contraction, condensing the two separate words "set is"?

:cop:

If you're going to be critical of people who make their living playing music, at least have the common decency to realize that the plural form of a noun (e.g., SETS) does not require an apostrophe.

:p

I only know the first three lines. Not sure what you actually end up doing with the drunken sailor. That's sorta like Christmas mass... everyone sings the first verse of Silent Night but no one knows the second or third verses.

If you really want everyone to sing along, start singing the theme song to The Flintstones...

Arrh, but "shave his belly with a rusty razor" is such a great line to sing. Whereas "In the town of Bedrock, they're the modern stone age family" is not in the same league.
