Ponderings of a Crazy Old FatMan aka (Tracks Revisited)

I've been checking out several of the local solo entertainers since moving back to the beach and it really started getting clear on when to and not to use tracks.

Obviously, we all have different skills in our instrument and voice.

If you are just a really good strummer with mad vocals then I can see using some backing.

If you are a picker that can play the song while incorporating,( the riff) then backing for every song may not be so important.

I saw a guy barely play guitar over karaoke tracks yesterday with average small town vocals and the kid is making a living.

But it's that RIFF that distinguishes basic 1-IV-V songs.

Walkdowns and ups also help fill that nasty boring strum.

If you're a rhythm guitar player in a band, God Bless You. We need that consistency.

If you're a soloist, change it up. Strum the verse and fingerpick the chorus or vicey versy.

They will notice the extra effort.

And if you can keep a dance floor full with just a guitar.

I gladly bow to your awesomeness.

Rant over

And if you are drop dead gorgeous looking, the audience don't give a {censored} what you sound like or if you use tracks.

So that's my secret :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Seriously,

Tracks vs. no tracks are like apples vs. oranges

There are good and bad in both. Whatever works for you is OK (Hmm, perhaps I should visit the plastic surgeon)
