Members Black Frog
Looking at getting a Drawmer MX40 Punch Gate and see that it only has XLR ins and outs. Of course using the normal channel inserts on boards are TRS 1/4 send/return. So that means that I'll most likely be making up some custom insert cables to work with this unit. Unless there are some available? Thought I'd double check here as to the best way to do this- I'm thinking that you just use (+) and (grnd) on the XLR and let the (-) float? Members B. Adams
I don't know about + and - on the XLR, but pin 1 is the ground and pin 2 is probably hot. In this case, you would want to ignore pin 3. And there are probably some of these cables around, Hosa makes a lot of weird cables. But you're probably fine making your own. Members Black Frog
I'll have to get in touch with Mark. I wonder if they tie pin 1 & 3 together or let it float....
Members multitracker
You shouldn't let the (-) input float. Whether that will work or not completely depends on the input circuit design. Either connect the TRS ground to XLR (-) and ignore the XLR ground or connect Grnd and (-) at the XLR.
