Members fuzzball
I am looking for a cheap small PA for small gigs, is the Phonic Powerpod 620/SEM710 PA any good? Has anyone here used it?
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 30, 2006 CMS Author Share Posted August 30, 2006 What constitutes a gig? Genre? Room size? If spoken-word readings are the gig, in a corner of Starbucks, this might be louder and clearer than not using any system at all. If you're intending to play any instruments with amps, forget it completely.
Members fuzzball
Small rooms, for acustic gigs. An occasional practice session. If I want to play a big gig I will bring out my big PA.
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 30, 2006 CMS Author Share Posted August 30, 2006 Then bring part of the big rig. This thing would be useless.
Members fuzzball
The point is that I do not want to haul parts of my big system around. I would like something that is complete, small, and get the job done. Are you saying that the quality of the unit sucks? I just want it for coffee houses and band practices, the only things that will be ran through it are vocals and occasionly an acoustic guitar. Members fuzzball
If that unit in particular is junk what would you recommend? Possibly a 100W soundtech unit?
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 30, 2006 CMS Author Share Posted August 30, 2006 A small mixer, a decent 10" or 12" powered speaker, and if needed, a stand. It won't be $300 unless you find a used deal, but it'll be portable and sound good.
