Volume Change when using Ditto+ Looper Pedal with Samson XP-106 Amp

Hi. Does anyone know what is going on here? Trying to determine if my Ditto + Looper pedal is defective or not.

  • A huge louder volume change happens when I start recording a loop
  • Chain: strat guitar - Ditto+ Looper pedal - Samson XP-106 PA Amp

  • Overdrive Nobel OD1 or Boss SD1 in front of the Ditto+ Looper pedal - there is no volume change before or when recording a loop
  • No volume change happens strat guitar to Looper pedal to Vox Guitar amp

Thinking the PA Amp needs a hot guitar level - OD pedal (can be turned off) before the Ditto+ Looper pedal does this : now playing through pass or rec a loop = same volume

A couple of questions....is the volume increase only while recording the loop?

Is the playback at the same increased volume as when you recorded it?

You say this doesn't happen with the Vox amp, so only with the powered speaker?

And with or without the overdrive in front of the looper into the powered speaker?

Since it isn't happening with the guitar amp, my first guess is there is something in the pre-amp stage of the powered speaker that is pushing the gain up.
