Members DJ Apollo
I have just purchased the PEAVY DTH S5 Concert speakers and they are great but I was looking to replace the 8" speaker with a 15" My first question is can I do this? and if so what specs are needed for me to make the 15" to play in the cabinet? When I just swapped the speakers out I got no sound and just need to know what else i need to have to make the 15"(made by harmony) work. any advice would be appreciated
Moderators daddymack Posted September 11, 2022 Moderators Share Posted September 11, 2022 why not buy the matching sub?
Members soulx
The DTH was Peavey's attempt at a pro-level concert box with a large format 2" horn and horn-loaded mid. Replacing the horn loaded mid with a larger front loaded driver will leave a huge gap in efficiency between the two sections that you will probably not be able to mitigate without biamping the top. If you don't plan to biamp, you'll be chasing your tail. You are probably best served selling the DTH and moving to a less powerful but more full-range front-loaded box.
