Members W4SL
Just a quick question here... for those of you that use your laptop for playback of tracks at FOH vs. CD player... what program do you prefer? Also, does that program use playlists? Thanks in advance. B. Holt

Members NUSound
The stability of iTunes is hard to beat. You may want to look at getting an external soundcard if you plan on multitasking though. If you're looking for something more along the lines of playing sound FX, this thread has some great programs listed: http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/sound/6064-cue-playback-software.html
Members jgthatsme
When I use my laptop, I use iTunes. More often though, I simply use my Sansa View MP3 player. Also, if I'm playing music between breaks at a wedding or other type of party where we want to keep things going, I'll use a burned CD with the volumes balanced and the 2 second pause between songs eliminated. If you're trying to keep things going, that 2 second pause is a killer.

Members samkokajko
When I do theatre work we use Qlab on a mac to play back pre-show music as well as sound cues. It is very stable, and completely instant as well as allows lots of programmability and can do multiple cues at a time to up to 8 different outputs while playing frame locked video and sending MIDI cues, etc. If I'm just playing music I use an iPod or CD player, but if I was using a computer it would be itunes. Members jwlussow
iTunes or iPod depending on the gig. It has been rock solid on both Mac and PC for us.

Members agedhorse
I did a run of shows using Cricket on the Mac, seemed to work well but could get too complicated in a hurry with some of the buried functions.
