Members MellowHoly
Hi there! I'm looking for a harmonica for recording some samples. I don't need anything fancy. Just something with decent sound. It's actually a wind instrument, but I have no idea in what section to post this thread so posted it here. If there any harmonica players on this forum, please reply asap
Phil O'Keefe
Are you sure you want to go to the trouble of trying to sample it yourself? I am not a harmonica player - I've tried to learn it a few different times, but it totally eludes me - and I started out playing reed instruments like sax. Getting the "blocking" down that is required to pass air through only one hole can be kind of tricky, and that may make it harder for you to get decent single notes to sample. And of course, then there's the technicalities of the whole sampling process too. Instead, have you considered looking for some decent pre-made harmonica samples and loops? Several MIDI modules and keyboards include harmonica patches, and samples (including some free ones) are widely available online... https://www.google.com/search?q=harmonica+samples
