Shure Beta 52

This is a bit off topic, but how does the Beta 52 compare to something like an Audix D6?

 

 

That is my Go To Mic for Kick and Floor Toms (when needed that BOOOOOOOOOOOM sound).

 

The D6 has more "attack/punch" sound than a Beta52.

also have 2 jbl eon 505s (i think) for monitors. The drums are dw, he paid $3000 or something he said, so they're high end, not sure of the model. pic of them are on our website in my sig on the about us page if you must know

 

toms we are using d2's and a 57 on the snare. no outboard gear. quality cables from mic to board to subs etc.

The rest of the guys here will probably me but when I'm running out of subs and need more kick I engage the HPF and turn the "low" on that channel up about 6db - this forms a nice boost at ~80 hz that gets you quite a bit more ""chest thump" for your limited watts.

 

Hehehe..I do that cheat as well, except I take the Low Shelf down and use a parametric band to dial in the fundy...

Try a Gate on the Kick. That can clean a kick thump up a little and get that punch your looking for.

we have it on there, but maybe we need to tweak it. We'll have time to work with it on friday. thanks for the suggestion.
