CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted February 24, 2011 CMS Author Share Posted February 24, 2011 I thought it was the Ultra Craig Pro... forgive me, my bad Shhh....that's not released yet. It features an octagonal case design that effectively doubles the number of corners that can be cut.
Members monkeyland
RE: direct outs for multi-track recording. These Soundcraft boards have insert points that can be used as individual channel sends when the jack is properly wired. yes but then you can't record AND insert. Like if you wanted to record a live show for mix down later but also insert some gates on your drums.
Members Visconti
There are some Behringer products that I would use in a practice space, but a mixer isnt one of them. I have a eurodesk that I bought when I didnt know anything and it's a total pos. Also Visconti, check your inbox. Got it.

Like if you wanted to record a live show for mix down later but also insert some gates on your drums. Agreed, but that was not part of the statement bobbyonenote made. He simply said: You won't find direct-outs for multi-track recording, with this class of mixer. While the Mixwix is a superior mixer, I was simply pointing out that his statement about the lower cost Soundcraft boards was incorrect.

Members soul-x
I only have experience with the Onyx and the Mixwiz. The Mixwiz has more sensible routing and a more "live-performance" oriented feature-set. I also do not trust the reliability of Mackie mixers based on my experiences with their VLZ models, but that may or may not actually be a problem with this line. The Mixwiz is pretty tough to beat in it's market segment. ...On the other hand, I'm also in the market for a rack mount board, and I'm looking real hard at the digital offerings. The feature sets are getting pretty appealing.
Members soul-x
I guess since nobody's asked yet: Do you even need a six aux board? Aren't you a ("extra spicy") two piece?
Members Visconti
I guess since nobodies asked yet: Do you even need a six aux board? Aren't you a ("extra spicy") two piece? Yes I have the 2 piece band similar to the White Stripes, but it may grow into a 4 piece.
Members soul-x
Well.. You're going to have to define your needs... But you are going to be hard-pressed to find a more feature rich small-format board than a Mixwiz at around $1k.
Members jwlussow
Whatever you buy, make sure that you won't outgrow it too soon. Purchase for your future needs, too.

Members StratGuy22
Buy once, cry once. I've had the same setup since 2003, because I researched into it, and my needs. It's only now that I'm thinking of getting a new mixer. Finally out-growing the board I have.
