Members Tomm Williams
Got to sit at monitor world with JRBLE for a show at his casino. Besides relying on cans, he also has an old 2x10" EAW sitting next to him for listening to the aux mixes (or other things) I've read about doing this but didn't really see the value when I have cans. I thought it was a great deal more convenient than phones. Probably not as useful for fine tuning something but for a quick reference, really nice. Think a small powered speaker would do this just fine.
Members philw44
Ideally you would want the same wedge that the performers are using.
Members dedmeet
I am curious - when using a cue wedge, how does one switch between between which aux mix you are listening to?

The cue system and cue bus on a monitor console (or monitor console configuration) is geared towards this kind of application.

He uses a Yamaha mc7l. It had that switching capability. I'm hoping to figure out a way to do it on my A/H GL2800. It was really nice queing up an entire monitor mix. Also real nice not messing with the phones on and off.
Members agedhorse
The 2800M should have a cue output and a bus cue section.
Members Tomm Williams
The 2800M should have a cue output and a bus cue section. Mine is not the M model. It can be switched for monitor function but I believe that affects the entire board. So not possible?
Members agedhorse
Silly me, I was thinking Yamaha PM-2800M. On your console, you would use the after fader listens and there's a cue out to drive the power amp. Can't easily do this with 9&10 though. Members agedhorse
yes aux's, and because they are stereo (unless you choose stereo cue) and because 9/10 are selected on the monitor section whereas 1-8 are in the aux master section
