Members Axisplayer
I am guessing thats a helical antenna since I can't really tell from the photo. http://www.fullcompass.com/product/356537.html?utm_source=googleps&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=googleps&gclid=CJHIiaSpn7ICFURxQgodYlEAqw
Members agedhorse
Looks like helical antenna but I don't see any wireless on stage. It cOuld also be a parabolic mic but then the question would be why?

Members KF650SB1000
I looked more indepth and found out the band is... Arcade Fire. Pulled from Wiki: The band plays guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin, and hurdy-gurdy. Most of their instruments are taken on tour, and the multi-instrumentalist band members switch duties throughout shows. I'm sure most of those instruments have a wireless mounted in them. Members agedhorse
It sure looks like a helical antenna to me. I see what looks like the RF amp at the bottom of the antenna.
Members Axisplayer
The one on the right isn't clear, but the one on the leftlooks like a helical to me.
Members raagam
I think Axisplayer got it in the link, the wireless antenna. I've been in outdoor theater productions that used the same thing to pick up actors' wireless mics.

Yes, the plexi/plastic toilet-paper roll with a small piece of metal spiraling around the , uh, shaft... is a Helical antenna. They do great things when a paddle style antenna distro just won't cut it.
Members BenBroChill
These are indeed Helical Antennas Use them all the time. Just like everything else though they are a tool and have a time and place. http://www.professionalwireless.com/sales/antennas
