Members Vibroluxman
1 flute1 clarinet (fun instrument, I hate bridging the octave though. Student Conn from the 40's. May soon be replaced by a new Buffet E11).2 alto saxophones (both Martins, one Handcraft Imperial (apparently very rare, silver plate from 1933) and one Committee II).1 Tenor - Buescher Truetone from '281 Trumpet - Holton Collegiate from '63. Anyone know how to get the slide unstuck? For my guitars, see the sig. Cheers,Eric
Members sunburstbasser
Is it the tuning slide? You can sometimes loosen them by heating them up (a good hot air blower will do the trick), or by wrapping a leather strap around it, clamping the leather in a vise, and tugging. Some kinds of penetrating oil may help as well.
Members Vibroluxman
It is the tuning slide. Do you mean like a hair dryer for the hot air blower? What kind of penetrating oil would you use? The horn is cherry, 99% of the finish is still there, no major dings or dents. Thanks,Eric
Members sunburstbasser
A hair dryer may do the trick. There are also "industrial strength" hair dryers that are nearly hot enough to solder with, hopefully you don't need to go that far! Thats what my instructor uses. Just heat the slides a bit and yank with the leather/vise trick, it should come free. Since its in pretty good condition, it may not even take that much effort.
