Calluses

So if you're playing with correct technique exactly where should the calluses form? Mine are kind of on the inside corners of my fingertips, not centered on the tips but more towards the body of the guitar. That'd mean my fingers are mostly slanted as I play.

how can you tell where your calluses are? As far as I can tell mine are covering the entire finger tip. I would imagine playing straight on would be a better practice to have, seems as though it would give you better contact/strength for each note.

Personally i have never payed attention to this, but I do play with the center of my finger tips. However my hand is slanted back naturally due to the way my arm extends to the neck... which is more exadurated on lower frets.

Well how are people (typers?) supposed to take you
seriously?
I used to get SRV grade callouses but lately with the
exception of my pinky, I only get a slight toughening at
the fingertips. They tenderize after a few days of idle-
ness but return after a couple days of use.
The pinky has a real rough spot on the outer edge of
the tip.
Scuse me I gotta go Encarta callouses

EDIT:
Yeah, SIC .
Did you know you can get callouses on EBAY ? :D
