Members sanchezero
----------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- --12-11-9-8----------------------------------------- -------------10-9-7--------------------------------- --------------------10-9-7-6------------------------ -----------------------------8-7-5------------------ came across this while playing around with some yngwie tunes looking for good alt pickin' stuff. my question is this... on the 4npstring runs, what method do you guys recommend? playing p, r, m, i a'la one finger per note, or p, r, i, i with a position shift? i'm currently attacking it one finger per note, mostly b/c it's totally screwing with my head switching from 4nps to 3nps fingering. not something i'm used to, so i figured i'd practice it. thanks. Poparad
Those kinds of licks are typically done with either an index finger shift (more common) or a pinkie shift (less common). Very rarely are they played with all four fingers, but you're welcome to practice it that way if you want.
Members 1001gear
If you want the (ahem) classical feel, the Vulcan fingering is probably best. It gives you concise 4 note groupings which would ultimately blaze along more efficiently. I have small hands and can just make the 2-3 stretch as tabbed. I think working that 2-3 gap is worthwhile regardless.
