how do you play scales in drop tunings ?

how would you play scales and arpeggios in tunings where the 6th sting is a step down like d a d g b e? would you play the same shape as the high d string?

i don`t know ,i suppose if you were playing it as fast has malmstein would it realy matter if you just played the same shapes .but strictly if you wanted to play exactly the same notes you would av to shift at that point .or even just mute that note so you don`t loose the rhythmic feel ,easier said than done!
