Full Metal Jacket had tons of cinematic integrity. I am really not a big Kubprick fan. He may have made my absolute favorite movie but I dislike just about everything else he did.

BTW, the movie that I consider to be my absolute favorite is Dr Strangelove.

there's a very rare atmosphere, breaking the frontier beetween fantasies and reality, which IMO serves 100% the purpose of the movie

anyway, cant argue with taste issues
:p

I thought it was great and the what he does (did) better than anybody is create a feeling

the music in that movie is perfect

Maybe I jumped to conclusions a little, I disliked Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut, A Clockwork Orange, and I thought 2001 was just ok.

I have not seen the Shining. I have been meaning to though.

Don't think I don't like classic movies or something because I enjoy so many movies is so many genres and eras that it is not that. There is just something about most of what he did that I dislike. I haven't seen them for a while so I can't be more specific.

I just have never worked out why Kubrik is considered such a master of the art. I haven't seen Dr Strangelove or Eyes Wide Shut (which I won't because Tom Cruise truly does suck) yet, but apart from The Shining, the rest were just pretentious and very boring to me. I've even seen several of his movies more than once just to make sure I wasn't missing something...nup...dull.

My bro just bought one of his friends that new huge book on Kubrik's movies...I'd suggest that'd be more entertaining to look at than the movies.;)
