Members LoneStarGuitar Posted December 22, 2005 Members Posted December 22, 2005 all i can say about this thing is WOW. so far i am not all terribly thrilled with the vibrato mode, but the tremolo is nice, and the chorus ....
Members Mike_E_McGee Posted December 22, 2005 Members Posted December 22, 2005 I do! I do!! I love the "chorus", and the trem. I have never liked vib. Lately I've been using it as a dedicated trem, but nothing beats a phased chorus when you're going for "that" sound. I use the chorus a LOT to fake an Eddie Hazel tone. I don't know if he ever played with a univibe. I'm not actually copping his tone. I find the chorus with some tape delay (sim from DL-4) goes a long way to copping his vibe (pun intended) though.
Members BmoreTele Posted December 22, 2005 Members Posted December 22, 2005 Welcome to Voodoo Vibe Land! The chorus (univibe0 is the best i have played (out of many I have played). the tremolo is very cool and tweakable, but i can;t get a real hard stutter chop. the Vibrato is definitely an acquired taste, as with any vibrato. But I am starting to use it at low intensity almost like a modulated delay thing. Interesting.

This one is a must have for all guitar players!
Members telephant Posted December 22, 2005 Members Posted December 22, 2005 I have one and it is THE {censored}. I stopped using it on my pedal board because the knobs turn too easily. Though apparantly the pots are similar to those found in neve consols... i use a Glow Vibe on my board now.
Members seifukusha Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 i was just digging some of my old tunes that have that all over. man thats a good pedal, but it just duidnt grab me. dunno why..
Members Faber Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Great sounding pedal. A bitch to dial in, but once I get it right, Damn!Never really used anything but the chorus mode.
Members bondini Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Yeah maggot brain, phew! This voodoo vibe sounds just the kind of fella i'm looking for, who makes it? & is it small enough to fit on a more modest board or is it one of these hulking great mammoth contraptions??
Members jack83 Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 http://www.roger-mayer.co.uk/voodoo_vibe.htm
Members Faber Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 It's a Roger Mayer effect, and it is a bit on the big side. A little bigger than a wha, for comparison
Members bondini Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Thanks Is it a lot better than the dunlop uni-vibe for example? The true bypass is a big +

The true bypass is a big + sound quality is 10x the Dunlop. the pedal is quite large, this ought to give you some comparison

Don't get me wrong, Maggot Brain was a strat into a Marshall with some wah in the middle. The vibe helps to nail the "Games, Dames, and Computer Things" sound (Eddie Hazel's solo album). It is a great vibe, and a great trem, but it isn't Maggot Brain in a box.
Members jgyn Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 I read somewhere that it was a Les Paul Custom.
Members bondini Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 Been looking into the Voodoo Vibe Jr, any thoughts on that? There's only one review here. Is it a lot smaller? Also, do these pedals need the added expression pedal to really work well or are they useable alone? Thanks
Members BydoEmpire2 Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 I've had one for about five years and I love it. Unfortunately, it just started flaking out on me. I don't see any loose connections, so I'm not sure what's wrong exactly. If I can't get it repaired I'd definitely buy another.
