DOD - As good as I remember?

I've got some DOD pedals that I love to death. The FX51 juice box and FX52 classic fuzz are already known around here for being great od and fuzz pedals. The FX96 Echo FX is a really nice analog delay that can oscillate nicely, it's a really fun pedal. And finally, the FX67 stereo turbo chorus is basically two typical 80s chorus pedals in one box. It can get extremely thick when you dial in both sets of knobs, really good for new wave sounds.

I remember it sounding very 'sci-fi' and vocal

Yes and yes...I'd agree.

It's the closest thing I've got to the "Spirit of the Radio" riff.

I'm going to retract a bit and say the MXR-style DODs are pretty cool. I had a PHASOR (sic) that sounded great, very similar to a Phase 45, swirly goodness.

And many of my favorite guitarists use their analog delays/old school choruses and they sound great.

What I would avoid is the modern, "Grunge"-style DODs with the touch-pad switches and stupid names. There may be a few gems in the line-up, but the ones I've played were terrible.

(Seems like people here have some good recs, tho)
