Members hbar
I own more than 7 stringed guitars. But my very first stringed guitar was a red squier strat. My 7th stringed guitar was my Warwick bass, iirc.
Members murch33
I used to have an RG1527. I prefer my baritone for when I need to play lower.

Because low tuned metal is all thats possible when you provide yourself with an extra string.

Members Fourth Floor
I would actually like to own a 7-string and not play nu-metal on it. Do anything but.Maybe I'd do some heavy-ish riffing but stay a long way from Korny stuff. The 6-string is so passe
Members usa83strat
yeah i was in the same boat, wanted one but dont wanna fall int ot the chugga chugga , thing with it som instead of adding a low B instead i would ad a high A
Members NITEFLY182
I've tried it and you would have to use a .007 on most instruments which breaks very easily. Its extremely hard to have a high a without a fanned fret setup.

Members KirkHammett1
geez, of course there is more than chugging on a 7 stringer. I used to apply the same note pattern on the high b to the low B string. I'd still hang out on the low E, but having that low B there for more possibilit ies was freeing. Also made some classical transriptions much more in depth. Chord inversions, you name it. The sky is the limit.

Members Brian Marshall
never have and never will. I have seen lots of bands use them when i was up in seattle, and i noticed that none of them used the upper three strings... why dont the just up tune a bass to A or something. Members Occam
I have a C7....I do use it for metal but if anything whenever I use it, it inspires me to play much more technically so I do a lot of math-metal stuff with it. I like the extended chord voicings. I also tune the low-B to A with the rest of in standard.

Members voerking
i tried one, but i didn't like it. it only sounded good completely clean. if i had an overdriven sound (like i usually do with six strings), the low B (or A, depending on my mood) would sound like a trashy bass. maybe someday, i'd like to try a really nice 7 string like a Soloway....maybe...
