Members guitarbilly74
I have a Peavey Classic 50 head and it is a great amp the overdrive is nice and creamy but for real fast lead playing I need a pedal boost. Right now I am using a Vox V830 with the volume set to 10 and the drive set to 1. The pedal does give me the gain I need but it seems to suck some of the low end of the tone and it thins out the tone quite a bit. I tried to use a TS9 and got similar results. So I was wondering what kind of amp boost you guys are using. Would it be better to buy a completely clean boost like a MXR Micro Amp instead of using an OD pedal? Members fishfartz
you could use an EQ pedal (before or after) your Overdrive/boost pedal, or you could throw one in the loop. set it to offset the low end loss, or use it as a boost itself by cranking the volume slider. or there are clean boosts out there that can offer a hefty boost, enough for overdriving inputs and it stays true to your tone. no low end loss, no mid spike, nothing but good clean power
Members guitarbilly74
yes the eq is a good idea, I will try an eq in front of the amp and try to boost the gain with it, I may not even need to use the OD pedal. Thanks that's a great suggestion, I should have thought of it before.
