amp boost suggestions

I have a Peavey Classic 50 head and it is a great amp the overdrive is nice and creamy but for real fast lead playing I need a pedal boost. Right now I am using a Vox V830 with the volume set to 10 and the drive set to 1. The pedal does give me the gain I need but it seems to suck some of the low end of the tone and it thins out the tone quite a bit. I tried to use a TS9 and got similar results.

So I was wondering what kind of amp boost you guys are using. Would it be better to buy a completely clean boost like a MXR Micro Amp instead of using an OD pedal?

Thanks

you could use an EQ pedal (before or after) your Overdrive/boost pedal, or you could throw one in the loop. set it to offset the low end loss, or use it as a boost itself by cranking the volume slider.

or there are clean boosts out there that can offer a hefty boost, enough for overdriving inputs and it stays true to your tone. no low end loss, no mid spike, nothing but good clean power
