Members TIKILOCKEDOUT
Forget it ... you have to have 5000 posts before your allowed to build anything.
Members Tamir2
Look, I don't know about books but you don't need to know advanced Electronics to do that. You need to know the symbols and a little about the ground wire. there are a lot of schemes of pedals in the net (if you want some site just say). To Build you own effect is hard (to make a circuit of your own).

Members dot-dot-dot
If all you want to do is put a pedal together then the Build Your Own Clone kits are excellent (www.buildyourownclone.com). If you want to know the theory behind then the 'sites thor suggested are all excellent, or The Art Of Electronics is good (though goes way beyond stompbox circuits). Im a complete beginner, you have to start somewhere! Do you know how to solder? You might want to "wet" your feet on a kit. BYOC seems to get decent reviews. Get a simple one like the a Tonebender clone or fuzzface clone. You will still need to go out and buy some tools though. I recomend getting at least the following tools: Soldering iron, Dikes, solder sucker, solder, wire strippers, some screw drivers.

Members Seth Carmody
A friend asked me to build him a Green Ringer, so I've got two CBs on the way from GGG. Depending on how it all goes, I may build a few more. If all you want to do is build then you don't need a book - most of the GGG files have a picture which shows you have to wire it up etc. If you want to learn to design your own then a book would be good.
