Members ZachOmega
I have a friend who just recently purchased a Shure SM58. He attempted to plug it into his Gibson GA1RT and Gibson GA18. Both amps are grounded (I assume properly). He said this lead to a nasty shock. Is lifting the ground on the microphone a proper solution? What other solutions are there? Thanks guys,-Zach Omega
Members lefort_1
Doublecheck the ground on the amp, then check the ground on the wall socket it is plugged into! Also, the circuit is usually completed by a second piece of equipment...was your friend holding a guitar/bass, etc? It could be THAT amp (or a botched pedal in the train) that caused the problem. Members ZachOmega
I asked him if he was playing guitar at the same time or not...Still waiting to hear back. I also told him to double check his ground on the amp and the outlet wiring. Still looking for a good solution though. Thanks for the input. -Zach Omega

Members gil1
How was he plugging a balanced mic into those Gibson amps? They don't have XLR ins?
