this pedal kicks ass, I used it at a gig on sat. night, it was awesome. On the right setting it works as a light dirt pedal, then when pushed by another dirt pedal it starts to sing. Liquidy feedback and harmonics all over the place.

I think I had the settings as follows:

asymetrical clipping
alt. clipping mostfet
second clip LED
volume a little above unity, filter about halfway, gain 9-10 o'clock, lube to taste.

just reading those settings make me want the pedal even more. Screw normal vol/drive controls :o Give me a mosfet switch, LED clip switch, and a freakin 'lube' knob..... :freak:

the lube knob is some sort of frequecy dump or something, works like a sort of tone control. My pedal is a prototype that has an additional switch the production ones don't have that drops out the lube knob. I get some interesting treble booster type tones with it (about halfway or so through my clip I messed around with that feature)

when the clipping switch is set to "alt" you can choose between LED and mosfet. The LED is much louder and less distorted, the mosfet is a bit softer and maybe a little more "tubelike" You can also set the clipping switch for standard rat config. or no clipping which produces the cleanest and loudest setting.

the secondary clipping switch is for an addition clipping circuit which can also activate a second set of diode clippers or mostfet clippers.

I can tell dan-o spent a lot of time working on these and the result is a very interesting and flexible dirt pedal.

Also, how many other pedals did you have in the chain?

...and last but not least, what color are your picks?

What other dirt pedals were you boosting it with. Oh and what type/color underwear were you wearing.

mine is white, but it is not the one in that pic. Mine looks identical except for a "lube" switch directly above the lube knob. I can't tell you the cost or wait time, check with dan-o on that.

it's an impressive pedal, I think I was most surprised by the low gain tones.

For the clip I used a stock squier '51 through the FKR into a fender dual showman/2-12" cab. The miced speaker was an EV 12L. A cheap samson R11 mic was used and a m-audio fast track audio interface. No other pedals were used and the amp was set up completely clean. If you wade through all 9+ minutes of the clip there's quite a palette of tones there. I was just switching from one setting to the next and there's some big jumps in volume on some settings so that takes a bit to get a handle on.

For my gig I used the same squier '51 and an Agile LP JR into SD-1, crybaby, chicken salad, FKR, polychorus, GNX3 (in a TB loop) into a mesa boogie MKIIB. The FKR responded incredibly to the SD-1. Unlike any pedal I've used. When used alone it was slightly above unity gain, but when hit by the SD-1 it turned into a whole different beast, bigger jump in volume and the gain and harmonics increased greatly. Most other pedals mush out a lot more when hit with another dirt pedal. This one didn't seem to.

I used Jazz III (1mm?) picks typically in red or black :p

Sorry, that clip wasn't long enough. May fit well on Greatest Wanks Vol III, but it was a bit short.

I've been trying the learn that same riff you did, I think it was from A Picture of Nectar.

I am humbled that you actually used it at a gig--that's a pretty cool thing I can tell all my dork friends. 2007 will be big for me because I'm actually going to work to acquire some dork friends. Or any friends for that matter. I've got an assload of interweb friends, but about zero in meatspace.

hahah, I know that clip was way too short.

honestly this pedal is probably going to be used for many more gigs, it was excellent. You have done real good with this pedal man.

I'm still trying to learn that riff too :freak:

I'll be your friend, got any room in the basement?

dano, just shoot me a pm or e-mail whenever you get a chance. thanks!

Hmmm, good names. You know, I've found that it is far easier to think up pedal names as opposed to designing and building them. Strange....
