Members MathiasWilliam
Don't buy a boss delay, you can get alot better. I would consider a Line 6 Echo Park, they are great!

Members cdawzrd
A used DD-3 is good. New, it's not worth it. Echo Park, Ibanez DE-7, Used DD-6 are all good first delay pedals.
Members Boron
Totally - I can never understand why the DD-3 retains it's price. There are way better delays for similar dolleros. The DE-7 and Echo park are fantastic for the money.
Members tenoken
Get a Danelectro Dan Echo or an Ibanez DE7. They are really good sounding delays that are under $100.

Just bought your first guitar? I would worry more about learning to play rather than messing with effects. Just my opinion.

Members Laminator_X
What sourt of sound are you aiming for? A Memory Man and a DD-3 have extremely different personalities, for instance.
Members Tone Deaf
If you're partial to digital, you can get a DD-20 for not too much more than a DD-3, especially if you find a used one. If analog is more to your taste, you can't really go wrong with an EHX DMM.

Members homestar_kevin
Rocktron Short Timer. One of my best Back Up delays. they're are great delays for the money. simple, and sound awesome..If you were buying dd3 new, I'd shoot for a used dd-6.make sure you try the echo park before you buy that, they're really weird.. all the tone core pedals are. Members kishjor
If you want somthin that sounds great especially for the money, I just bought a rocktron short timer. Great Delay, and only $60. I'd reccomend it to anyone.
Members Electric Catfish
Either a vintage tube echoplex, or a Fulltone TTE. They're old school, and therefore, ideal for beginners. You can catch up to technology later. In all seriousness, Dan Echo's can be had for under $50 used, and sound good. I don't have experience with a lot of delays, though. If you just want short delays, for spacious effects, analog is the way to go, imo. For longer delay times, digital is essential.Dan Echo's are digital. If you'd rather have an analog, DOD FX90's sound nice, though they have a really short delay time, and usually go used in the $75 neighborhood, give or take a few bucks. The Deluxe Memory Man sounds incredible, and has longer delay times, but you're looking at around $250 on a new one, about the best you can do anywhere that I've found. I did see a used one go for $150 on here not too long ago, seems like, but that was a great deal. The Stereo Memory Man is cheaper, and the delay times aren't as long, but still has the nice analog tone going for it. I hate to be one of those guys recommending things that I have, but I don't have a great deal of experience with much else, honestly.
