Members olejason
Rat is good. All of the muffs work extremely well on bass. I use a USA muff but lots of people prefer the green ones. The green one is a little more 'vintage' sounding imo if that's your thing. The metal muff w/ top boost is one that's often overlooked. The 3 band EQ and wide range of gain makes it great if you want distortion instead of fuzz. The 'king' of bass fuzz is the zvex wooly mammoth if you want to drop some bills
Members Urinate Forever
i used my NYC RI muff into a Fender rumble amp with a mexican jazz bass and it sounded {censored}ing awful.
Members tocs100
I'm digging a stock Metal Zone with gain at 9 o'clock. It adds just the right amount of compression. (They're also durable and cheap used.)

Members olejason
i used my NYC RI muff into a Fender rumble amp with a mexican jazz bass and it sounded {censored}ing awful. Maybe the amp just didn't mesh well with the pedal? I don't know what kind of sound you were going for but a j-bass w/ a NYC muff is a pretty standard setup for countless bands... especially in the way of punk, sludge, or doom. Members ChuckNorris1982
My bro tried all kinds of stuff for his before he realised the best pedal for the sound he had in mind was a black Russian big Muff. It sounds really thick and heavy. Lots of fun.
Members JETKING
i've used a Russian Big Muff, Boss ODB3, and a Boss FZ2. not all at the same time mind you, that'd be kerazy!
Members jazzdrum
NO! listen. Buy something with a clean blend. Essential to bass dirt. You are not a guitarist! You need assbottomOK!??? get a sparledrive or even an orion bass distortion, or something with a blend. LOK AT ANY BASS DISTORTION AND YOU WILL SEE A BLEND. If you don't wanna fart squit then listen. However, P-nut uses a big muff and I love his squit so go for it. don't listen to me. {censored} up on your own.

I didn't experience any of that, it just didn't have a whole lot of tonal variation when messing with the settings.
Members decode6
I dunno about bass, but Bass Balls sounds damn good on regular guitar.
Members olejason
I don't think the blend is a huge deal unless you're going for an SVT tone or the pedal has no sort of EQ
Members SpectralJulian
I've tried a bunch of different ODs, distortions, and fuzzes on bass, and by far I like the DOD-250 the best on bass.
