Members Teahead Posted April 28, 2008 Members Posted April 28, 2008 Go here ... Now would be the time to tell you that while this offer is free of charge, it will cost you plenty of practice. Watch how Tommy Emmanuel gets those electric piano sounds with his acoustic, learn it for yourself and try it with electric guitar and whichever effects your heart desires. This is the best piece of technique I've learned in a long time, it's capable of some amazing sounds and well worth practising.

Members Lanefair Posted April 28, 2008 Members Posted April 28, 2008 I thought I knew everything I knew and didn't know about the guitar. But I didn't know that I didn't know about this.

Me too mate. It took about twenty minutes of adjusting my right hand positioning before I could sound the harmonics properly through a scale or chord, then I spent about three hours straight playing with it. With some reverb, vibe, delay, fuzz or whatever, it takes on a whole new voice.
Members FedExPope Posted April 28, 2008 Members Posted April 28, 2008 i thought everyone knew how to do this?

Members attic Posted April 28, 2008 Members Posted April 28, 2008 i thought everyone knew how to do this? Are you talking about harmonics in general (5th, 7th and 12th fret) or about the combination of open chords and harmonics? I never knew about open chords + harmonics...

Members heliotrope Posted April 28, 2008 Members Posted April 28, 2008 its a fairly common technique, or at least i thought it was. he does it well, but i didn't think there was anything all that unusual about it.
