Members companyman
Oh yeah, I know Julius Hemphill, good stuff....when I was in grad school a friend was into him...cool, I was really into Anthony Braxton, and The Dave Holland stuff, thats all I would listen to in my painting studio at the time. I go for long periods of time where all that I listen to is Jazz that is really reaching into the unknown....Sun Ra, Art Ensemble of Chicago and Albert Ayler's early stuff etc. then I will not listen to Jazz at all...move to classical music or whatever. I feel another Jazz period coming on.

Members Pascal
I'm heavily into Julius Hemphill lately. I've also been rediscovering him lately: 'Coon Bid'ness, Dogon A.D.... I was introduced to Hemphill in the 90s thanks to people like Bill Frisell (Before We Were Born) or Tim Berne: Diminutive Mysteries (mostly Hemphill) with his band Caos Totale, and also his arrangements of Hemphill tunes with Bloodcount. If you aren't familiar with Tim Berne and his work, check out these two bands . (Big Satan and Science Friction are also outstanding projects of his).
