Hmmm Let's See. Historic home of the Waffle House (okay it started in Avondale Estates) & Emory University (a world class institution), Ann's Snack Bar (Home of the Ghetto Burger), Bishop Eddie Long (he pumps teenagers) & New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, A James Joyce pub (okay that too is in Avondale Estates...), an EXTREMELY large Lesbian population (which makes sense considering it is also home to Agnes Scott College, an all-girl college), the "world famous" DECATUR FARMERS MARKET, a really great but under-rated record store in Wuxtry records (the Athens location get more shine...), an extremely corrupt county government with a Police Chief who has his own security detail (don't ask..) & the county commission is actually a CEO , & well...

 

...apparently Michael Stipe was born in Decatur but i don't think Micheal Stipe is as hot as Keri Hilson or Ciara and well of course...

 

...there is Stone Mountain, the largest bas-relief INTHEWORLD, in nearby Stone Mountain, GA. seriously. you have not lived until you've been to Stone Mountain Park & heard a bunch of drunk rednecks loudly singing "God Bless The USA" in unison during the fireworks show at nite. so definitely bring the kids !!! (also cool for hiking...)

 

so. if you find yrself in Atlanta. on Ponce De Leon. driving drunk after a bizarre nite of dancing at MJQ or seeing a hipster show at the sister venue the Drunken Unicorn, just keep going west (go in the opposite direction & you'll end up on Piedmont, which yeah if you want to go to a gay bookstore or have a really awesome biscuit or go to an "okay" bar that's yr prerogative dawg...) well just keep driving. & driving. & driving...

 

or. if you are a 1st world boheme priced out by Atlanta's already cheap rents. you really don't have to look very far...
