a question about cab ohms and solid state amps....

cool, so I can run, say, a 16ohm cab from a 8ohm output on the amp then.

 

 

you should be fine, you won't draw the same amount of power from the amp though, as far as I know. if your amp is rated at 100w into an 8 ohm load, you may get half that or more into 16 ohms. I could be wrong though.

hmmm...I'm on the lookout for a cheap 2x12 cab for my Vox Pathfinder wich has an 8ohm out. The 8inch Weber Signature speaker I put in it sounds great, but I would like to move some more air with a cab. I wasn't aware that the ohm rating of the cab effected volume.

I'm fairly sure it works that way, my PA amps put out almost double into 4 ohms mode as opposed to 8 ohms.
