Members ElectricPuppy
OK, I'm about to consider this thread officially over. I'm retiring from my career as a gear slut. I am thoroughly satisfied with my entire setup. Yes.Quoted for future proof.

Members Delicious Lamprey Problem
I've spent the past week auditioning DAWs so I can start recording. Condensed version: I liked Ableton - it's simple, fast, and fun, but I could never get the MIDI timing/latency stable. Seems like a known issue, according to the mailing list. I didn't like Tracktion. Sonar has lots of stuff on the screen which appears complicated, but I didn't have any latency issues at all, so it's probably going to be the winner... but I've not given up on Ableton just yet. But yes, I'd love to share some recordings! I think the Blofeld and the A6 will coexist very well indeed! I'd also like to pay the Elektrons some attention... I've been neglecting them lately. Members Ob Com
This is most awesome DLP! Congratulations. The A6 is epic win. You can go down the rabbit hole with it most surely.Dont sell that.
Members Delicious Lamprey Problem
I usually get a feeling when I get something new, whether it'll last... You know, a sort of hrmmmm, sounds pretty good, shame about X... But the A6 is rather wonderful so far. I like the construction and the sound. Even the NEWPRG default patch sounds good to me, which is good news, 'cause it's all about the basic building blocks. Re: Ableton, I'll give it another go today. I like its immediacy. Members Delicious Lamprey Problem
Ableton latency/timing is going well here....Give it a second chance! Glad I did! Interesting trivia: even though I'm not using any audio interface in my computer, switching to the ASIO driver fixed my MIDI timing issues. Weird! Members ElectricPuppy
I'm running Sonar (8) myself, and I'm giving Live's demo another chance. Last time I tried it, I liked it, but felt guilty about dumping my investment in Sonar. My Live demo period's run out since so I can't save anything now, but I do like the relative simplicity of it compared to Sonar.
Members Delicious Lamprey Problem
See, the thing is, I'm not going to be loading any softsynths/plugins at all. What I need is a DAW that's completely MIDI-centric. A sequencer, really. I guess it does need to be able to record the final audio output... Live seems like it may have the least overkill.
