Members Lanefair
I've had some joy running an acoustic simulator direct to PA, but it got me thinking, every time I want an organ/hammond sound, wouldn't it sound better and less like a guitar through a full range speaker? Same goes for synth effects. Aren't these better off through the PA?

Same goes for synth effects. Aren't these better off through the PA? It depends on what you want. Sometimes it sounds better, sometimes it doesn't. For example, When I used shimmer reverb sounds live I preferred putting them through my guitar amp because it was a bit more gnarly and dirty sounding rather than this prissy nice thing that floated over everything. Also, Things like hammond organs usually went through a valve power amp and had a bit of dirt to them so removing your amp from the equation might end up being counter to your thinking. Members RoboPimp
I run my entire guitar signal direct to the PA through a cab simulator so
Members lefort_1
Hammonds need some grit to get the 'organ sound'. Many have/had 6V6 onboard amps. Without that grit, you'll get be channeling your Inner GrandMa's Lowery Genie.

Members Lanefair
I'm basically wondering if, every time you have an effect that sounds different to a regular electric guitar, should you put it through a full range speaker? Members hugbot
This feels like something that would be a massive pain in the ass for little tangible benefit. How much synth are you using?
Members Lanefair
None at the moment. I used to run synth sounds through my amp but they'd get lost in the mix. I was wondering if anyone takes their amp out the equation for stuff like that.
Members hugbot
I wouldn't speculate on it unless you had synth sounds you were using atm and they sounded bad. Start planning for stuff you don't even need yet and that can get expensive fast.
