Members januszian
Hello. While messing around with a new song idea, I decided to record it to my PC so I wouldn't forget it. I used Amplitube in Cakewalk and first recorded the clean parts. Then I needed a distorted sound so I started turning knobs. Then I found an "OK" sound but after a while I realized that it's not just an OK sound, it's T-H-E sound for me! http://www.zilakka.com/mp3/JannenOmat/ampliRankka.mp3 I have an ENGL Powerball with a Mesa Rectifier Standard 4x12 oversize cab. The cab is just fine and doesn't need to be changed. The Powerball is a completely cool amp but I'd just like a distortion that is more "loose" than what's in the Powerball. So, what amp gives a sound that is as loose as the AmpliRankka.mp3 sound??? Or something looser than the Powerball anyways. The cleans in the Powerball are the best I've heard so that's something that I can't really sacrifice though. Is Framus Cobra/Dragon looser than the Powerball? I've heard that Framus has nice cleans. Or maybe Krank, Bogner or something other? Here's my current sound with the Powerball and Mesa cab: http://koti.welho.com/mpappila/Synapse/FalseSynapse-VibrationsOfLustTaustanauha.mp3 My guitar is on the right side. (The songs not finished yet, the singer of my band hasn't had time to do his parts...)

Thanks for the replies but isn't a Mesa Rectifier much looser than the one in my clip?I've tested a triple recto a few times but I just couldn't get that kind of sound. What makes the amplitube sound special to me, is the fact that it's loose but it still can do a decent palm muted sound. The guitar that was used with the clip is a Fender Lonestar Strat with a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates at the bridge. And it's tuned to E!!! And it still crushes. WAY cool...
Members Cackalacky
Interestingly enough..... I checked it out again, no delay, then double clicked it, ......delay. My computer skills.
Members ragnvald
Many say a Framus Cobra is in many ways a refined Rectifier. It definitely has the cleanest, loose, yet tight, low end I have every heard from an amp.
Members januszian
To me the Dragon sounds better. Well, atleast according to these clips:http://www.rocksolidamps.com/MP3/Cobra%20Demo.mp3http://www.rocksolidamps.com/MP3/Dragon%20Demo.mp3And it says on the Framus homepage that quote "The overall character of the Cobra is much brighter and tighter than the Dragon." Which is something I don't want. But when compared to this clip: (which is a Krank Revolution)http://www.krankamps.com/audio/loGain.mp3Even the Framus' sound tight!Well, maybe I'll stick with the Powerball for a while. The differences aren't HUGE so maybe I'll find some loose low end from the Powerball somehow. Here's some crappy playing with a Powerball and Mesa 4x12 cab:www.zilakka.com/mp3/JannenOmat/Powerball+Mesa4x12.mp3There is a G-Major in the amps loop and it's controlled by a Behringer FCB1010. The high gain is channel 3 of the Powerball.
Members januszian
Ok. Let's leave the older stuff behind.I'll continue this thread because my last thread was destroyed?!?!So I'm looking for this type of sound:www.zilakka.com/mp3/JannenOmat/Crushing.mp3But that's made with Amplitube and I don't want to use a laptop at gigs. Here's my current sound with my Powerball: (not the same as above)www.zilakka.com/mp3/JannenOmat/Powerball+Mesa4x12.mp3And here's sounds from an amp that I think is cool:http://www.krankamps.com/audio/loGain.mp3I think I'd love to have a sound like in the clip above. (I'm not sure if this thread gets destroyed too if I mention the manufacturer of the amp?!?)Anyway, I tested a Framus Dragon and loved it more than my Powerball. But then I got interested in the Framus Cobra. So can I get my dream sounds from a Framus Cobra? Or a Dragon? Thanks.
Members JamesPeters
You might want to try a POD through a PA or something. I'm pretty sure the POD has some similar sound in it.
Members januszian
POD don't thump. Like a tube amp.Or even get the same presence as Amplitube. It's like there's a veil over the sounds in it.

A PODxt into a tube power amp, into a PA, or even better an HD147 would do the trick.-Joe
Members januszian
Oh, Jeesus Christ. I want that KIND of loose Tube amp sound. Like a Recto but not a recto.Sorry if I misled you.
Members JamesPeters
Try a newer Sunn Model T with some OD/boost pedal in front. You might get something similar while still being a tube amp in general.

Members januszian
The Amplitube clip describes only the LOOSENESS of the wanted distortion, not the actual tone.So can we please quit the modeller suggestions now? the Krank clip is close to the tone. (if not it. but the Krank clean is so horrible that the Revolution head isn't an option...)
