Amp Ohm question

I have a Mesa dual recto, and I currently run a mesa 4x12 cab at 8 ohms.

 

Now my question is, I'm going to pick up an orange cab soon, and they are wired at 16 ohms, so when I run them together, what outputs would be safest to use?

 

The dual has two 8 ohm outputs, two 4 ohm outpus, and two 2 ohm outputs.

 

the reason i ask is because 16 and 8 don't mix down nicely (its about 6 i think). But ya, any advice would be appreciated

It is theoretically 5.33 ohms. You should be ok using the four ohm setting.

from what I've heard, the cab with the lower impedance will see twice the power (and possibly be much louder, depending on the efficiency of the speakers in each cab) though, if that's a concern

Yes,obviously that would be the case.
