Members cloudnine
Eventually, maybe. But probably not much. Try to bargain down to six maybe? I definitely would not buy an 80s strat as an investment.
Members db123
I've got a 1984 Fender strat. It's not so good. I've had it since Iwas 16--my first real guitar. It was the last year they were made in the US for awhile. This era in Fender history was marked by cost-cutting measures. The tremelo/vibrato sucks. The input jack is on the pickguard--I broke the original pickguard when I stepped on my cord. These aren't collectible (yet?) Personnaly, I'd get a used G&L--higher quality than Fender. You can get a used S-500 or legacy for that much.
Members Mesaholic
It's a little dated, but according to my Vintage Guitar Price Guide, 6th Ed. (1998), a 1984 Stratocaster Standard (1 tone, 1 volume, jack on pickguard), in excellent condition, would be $600 (low) to $700 (high).
