This is my first experience with an actual class A amp and it's definitely taking some getting used to. I really like the tones I'm getting with it but it seems to break up a little to early for me while using humbuckers (not so with single coils) with the gain run low and the master cranked. Should I consider dropping some 12at7's in the preamp in place of the 12ax7's? I actually like using my Bad Monkey for overdrive on this one more than the natural grit. If it is just "Will the AT7s lower gain enough to where I can use my Bad Monkey for drive instead of the amp's distortion?", then yes, you can and should.
