Members Shellshock
I am looking at these two cabs today... a Mesa for $525 and a Marshall for $400. I'm going to buy one (unless something is wrong with both of them), and I won't be able to compare them to each other because they are private sales. Anyone have any likes or dislikes about the Mesa? I don't have any experience with the Mesa cab... will it be too bright? I am pretty sure I'd like the Marshall bottom cab, it is X-patterned V30s and G75-Ts loaded in it. Please tell me your opinions on either of these cabs if you have played them! I play Hard Rock and early Metal and I love a good thumpin' bass response from my cab and a cutting top end as well. Members rog951
At those prices, I'd take the Marshall...assuming you verify the speakers. If they were both the same price, I'd take the Mesa, as it's the "better" cab IMO. $525 is just a bit too steep for it. I'm a cheap-ass tightwad though so don't mind me... Members Shellshock
Well...I took this one home, and it sounds great!I love the sound of the V30s and G12-75s mixed together.
Members JimAnsell
how does that johnson head sound? is it the typical good cleans and mushy, way too dark due to cab models high gain? or does it sound good? is there a headphone jack? Members Shellshock
The Johnson is my go to head for low volume Hi-Gain practice.I don't use any of the effects much, a little delay and reverb sometimes. The Johnson sounds good at whisper volumes for METAL!The cleans are great too as you might expect... but I spend most of my time chuggin away on the Recto model at low volumes. Members JimAnsell
does it hold up ok loud?
Members Shellshock
You can hook up adapters to the XLR Outs and use them for headphones, but it sounds very good at low volume... so I havent bothered.
