Members saxamafone
bit supprised actually.. my blackmore totally slayed my 5150 in a band setting last night. it was much bigger, clearer, tighter.. everything was better about it. i was expecting more from the 50 considering how well it recorded the other week. i tried some different settings but the engl just flat out kicked its ass i still love the amp don't get me wrong. but i wasn't expecting that much of a difference b/w the 2. both amps were tried out using my engl cab. so to sum up.. damm i love engl

Members Chrisjd
while i find this hard to believe, ok... The 5150 is a more mid heavy amp, and i cannot believe that the blackmore would cut better.

Members code_blue
I saw a band a while back that had a 5150 II and a Fireball...The Fireball sounded much better. And although it didn't seem to cut as well as the 5150 II, it sound a million times smoother, it make the 5150 II sound shrill and spikey in the highs/mids. Members saxamafone
when paired with the fireworx the blackie does awesome leads imo. i don't solo like a mofo tho. both amps had mid set on 6 and the engl seemed more mid heavey than the 5150 also the fact that the engl is much clearer makes it cut better prehaps. Hey Gearo how does the splawn compare to Blackmore? Fairly similiar in gain at least? I'd guess Blackmore has a better clean.

The Splawn was way less saturated and bigger in the mids IMO.
