I agree. I did think the Engl was too low but no need to complain. At times, I thought both amps had tone similarities but the volume was a bit low compared to the Competition side. The level in the mix are set equal.I think mine has more mids, but I get them both to peak at the same on the mixer levels. The Splawn is one of the only amps I have ever had where I love having the mids up higher than usual. When i yurn them too high on my Engl's it gets this nasal quality. The SE's sweet spot is Mid-Edge turned on and the mid knob about half way.
