Members mamberg
the reissue???if so, they came with 25W Greenback re-issue speakers, and seem to sell new for $2,149used price would depend on condition, but in very good used, i would think around $1,500if you're talkin an original 1962 bluesbreaker, then I have no idea.... Members Weathered
The model name is a 1962 - the Bluebreaker wasn't introduced until '66 if my memory serves me correctly. If it's original, upwards of $6,000. If it's a RI, $1,250 is fair. But don't expect it to sound like Clapton - there are come changes to make it more accurate to the original circuit, including putting in KT66 output tubes. Members Weathered
I'm not sure. What is the store telling you about the amp? If it's an original 1962, it's either going to have Alnico Celestions or Greenbacks. If they say it's original, and you have a shop that specializes in vintage gear in town, ask to take the amp for a spin at a rehearsal if you can, and bring it to the vintage experts and have it checked. Members Raspberry
What store would let you run off with a vintage amp 'to take it for a spin'? If I knew a store that did that... Unless you're talking about buying it then getting them to guarantee a return if you don't like it.
Members Weathered
Usually, you can put a credit card down as collateral, they won't charge it unless you run off. I've done it many times.
Members JBHarrison
Back panel serial numbers from that far back mean almost nothing. Here's what the real thing looks like http://www.geocities.com/stompbox2001/bluesbreaker.htm The price is a function of originality and condition. I think the 1962 you were told is the model number - it's a little confusing with Marshall amps. I think the first BB were sometime around '64 or '65 and based on a JTM-45. Here's a pic of one such amp:http://www.ampaholics.co.uk/marshall_bluesbreaker_jtm45_from.htm
