Members Pr3Va1L
Alright so now that I have your attention ..... Do you guys think it's good practice to distort the input preamp of a mixer? Could it break or something? It's interesting really, I've just realised the preamp in my mixer (Gigrac 300) yields a pretty nice distortion when pushed really hard, that's just perfect for electric piano! Really! Members rushtallica
If you're only pushing its own gain up I doubt that it would cause any problem, but if you're really pushing the signal that's going into the input consider this a bump for hopefully better answers. ^
Members stevehollx
Well, it was proven last week that boosting the input adds 5 years to the musician's playing. If you crank the gain and put a tubescreamer in front of the mixer, your piano player will sound like Chopin, guaranteed.

Members Pr3Va1L
Yeah that's what I tought... At least it's not the poweramp i'm distorting. @ Rushtallica, The signal was too strong for the input of the mixer so it distorted... It's the keyboard I use.. That's why there's a pad on the mixer, but without it it distorts nicely.
