Members keybdwizrd
I saw a Korg Kross 61 in a Sam Ash store last week. It wasn't plugged in to anything so I couldn't play it. Looking at the features and specs at Korg's site, this looks to be a fun, very portable workstation, with a lot of features. My guess is that it sounds very good, considering it's price. I have to say, however, that the perceived build quality doesn't approach that of what most keyboardists would expect of a "professional" instrument. (And I guess it isn't meant to be one.) Like the Micro X (which I still have), the Kross is quite plasticky. Regardless of the actual build quality, the presentation, in person, was rather disappointing. At $699 US, the Kross is the same price as Yamaha's MX61. I haven't compared features, but one cool aspect of the Kross is the ability to run on six AA batteries (although I wonder what the battery life is). No doubt both these instruments contain sounds that some years back were only available in instruments 4x the price.

Members AnotherScott
I think the MX (kind of a scaled down Motif XS/MOX) will sound better than the Krome (which I think is a kind of scaled down M3/M50, or looked at from the other direction, a souped-up Microstation). But the Kross will probably be more flexible, have more MIDI capability, etc.
Members zzzxtreme
Krome has plenty new samples. Much better than m50. Or did u mean kross? (typo)

(typo) This thread is about the Kross, not the Krome. The Krome does have new piano, EP, and drum samples. I'm not sure whether or not the rest are any different from the M50. Members AnotherScott
Yes, I was distinguishing the Kross from the Krome in that post. Not a typo.
