Members cobrahead1030
kinda like a jcm800 with a real nice clean channel...really nice amp IMO
Members kissmyirisharse
It sounds like if you took a 2204 circuit and had a well done hot mod put on it.Very responsive to guitar volume settings and of course how the strings are attacked.Actually works better with single coil pickup guitars.I use a Strat (texas specials) and Les Paul w/P90's.My Ernie Ball/Musicman Luke w/EMG's sounds pretty amazing through it too. It's funny how the Krank stuff got a rep as just a metal amp. They are pretty versatile IF you know how to set them up.I am currently using the Chadwick (two channel version) to gig out with the band I am currently playing with. The clean channel takes to whatever pedal you want to put in front of it.Works GREAT with my Maxon 808 or MXR micro amp, I also use a Distortus Maximus which sounds incredible through that clean channel. The gain channel is pretty versatile too. Has a "shift" function that opens up the eq say from a 70's type range to a more modern type tone shaping control. I love the Chadwick, gets me all the different tones I need, and since it's a 50 watter I don't have to kill my ears (or anyone else's).

Members Boris the Blade
Nice. I noticed it had a gain knob, and an envelope knob. what exactly does that envelope knob do?
Members Boris the Blade
Does Allan Chadwick actually use this amp? or did he just design it
Members kissmyirisharse
The Envelope function controls how much preamp signal hits the phaseinverter, essentially making it an adjustment for how much poweramp breakup may be desired. This is a really great feature, and along with the sound of the amp is what really sets the Chadwick apart from so many other British type designs.I should also mention that the "Drive" button doubles up on the gain.Meaning that with the "Drive" not activated, the gain goes from 0 to 10.When the circuit is activated, you can "take the gain from 10 to 20".Another cool feature is the passive/active effects loop which also has alevel control. This makes it possible to run pedals in the loop without lossof volume or tone.

Members mhenson42
Anyone have soundclips? videos? It's the only Krank that I've somewhat liked. Sam Ash has/had one. Though I think it was messed up. You may look for it next time you go there.
